A few days ago we learned that Microsoft is reading everything you write on Skype.
Even before the Microsoft take over it was an awful application for the Linux users, the version for that OS always lacked on functionality and it was very poorly integrated on our systems. Even now, when they have improved a lot, only i386 binaries are available.
Being obliged to use it for work reasons, the most unbearable misfeature of that software is that the audible notifications for incoming messages can only be turned on or off altogether. Having multiple “chat rooms” with busy users makes it impossible for me to have it turned on, as it produces an infinite stream of useless sounds. Users of other operating systems have a filtering option to only make a sound when a special word is said.
Today I missed important messages because of this, and I went out to find out a solution. Even if I had to quit my job and finally move to the utopic “beach hut” to prepare drinks for a living.
